Best and Brightest Wishes to you all for a truly EPIC 2016!
It feels like I just did last year’s post. Someone slow this time thing down, it’s passing way too fast for me. ^_^
Well, let’s get onto the Review, shall we?
Last year I set some goals for 2015, and I think I did pretty well:
Finish up and post both Through the Rift – Parts Three and Four. – GOAL! Through the Rift Series
Write and post at least two chapters of Crackalackalicious each month. – 71% GOAL! I was doing well, but then people liked the KnotFormers and my writing fell to the wayside a bit. Heheh! Not complaining!
Write and post at least 170,000 words. – GOAL! OMG such Goal! Wow! I blew away that 170k by over 116k words with a grand total of 286,353 words written AND posted in 2015! The total posted with what had been written prior to Jan 1, 2015 is 308,102 words. Damn! Not gonna lie- I surprised the hell out of myself there.
Finalize the KnotFormer pattern and open commissions to those interested in buying one. – GOAL like WHOA! Please see my KnotFormers tag on Tumblr. I NEVER expected anyone to want to buy one, so opening commissions and setting this goal was just kinda a lark, and then people really wanted them? I can’t even begin to express how excited I am by that.
Give Spectrum more of a poke. – Uh… Well, I thought about it a little bit, and I think I added a couple notes earlier in the year??? LOL. Oh well. We’ll get to it eventually.
Write and self-publish that original short story idea I’ve had kicking about for a year now and is already outlined. – Nope. I got all caught up in fics and crocheting and never did make time for this.
Copyedit fics into a book format as a fanbook with LB82’s art. We want prints for our bookshelves, and if others are interested in buying one too, we’re down with that. We aren’t looking for any sort of profit here, just the desire to be able to pull our own book off the shelf and touch our creations. – Ok, this sort of happened. I have the doc nearly complete, but in doing it and researching printers to have it made, I realized I really need to rethink how I want to put it together. So…. More or less goal, but with more to go before it becomes a real Thing.
I’d still like to run more. – Nah. LOL! I DO want to, but there’s this mental hurdle to jump and make myself ignore ALL the farking PEOPLE staring at me when I go. Our complex is so FULL of people anymore, and I am just really uncomfortable trotting my ass by them as they chill outside and watch the rather plush me bound by.
I’d like to swim more. – Did! We hit the pool over the summer when it was open, and went out to the beaches more. Kids are both much more proficient swimmers and snorkelers. When the twin was down here, we even took my kids out to the Reef to snorkel. It was amazing!
And I’d still like to get out on the road and visit family and friends that I haven’t been able to see in a couple of years at least now. – Lack of travelling this year, but it remains a forever goal. Everyone’s doing well though. Daddy’s still got his girlfriend, and my brat kid brother has somehow managed to become a pillar of his little community. He got custody of his twins finally from his very UNFIT to be a parent x, and they’re improving mentally and physically. His other kids and my fave SIL ever are doing well too.
Finish my WIP crochet projects! LOL, there are currently five (not counting the KnotFormers). – GOAL! But of course I have more WIPs now (and some of the blankets haven’t been touched very much. LOL! I’m on Ravelry here for anyone interested in stalkering my progress or just wanting to friend me there. I love seeing other people’s projects come together. So please, friend me if you want and spam me with your project pics. ^_^
Become a proficient knitter, which hinges on my finishing my crochet projects because I am not allowing myself to learn yet another hobby without doing what I’ve already promised with the other. ^_^ - Not yet, but I’ll get there. I think I’ve improved with crocheting though, and I still want to make myself all the socks, so knitting will happen eventually.
Now it’s time for the Meme section of the Review! Below is the first line from the first fic posted each month.
January - Sweep Me Off My Feet: Fragging teases, that’s what they were, Thundercracker decided as he swept over the battlefield.
February - Sprucing the Place Up: “Hi, Sunstreaker,” Hound said softly as he approached the often volatile mech.
March - Pew Pew: Well, this was definitely not the usual way battle went.
April - All or Nothing: Blue optics shot wide, and a pale face shifted from a neutral expression to a mask of disbelief and shock in the space between spark pulses.
May - By Old Tradition: Fly casual, Starscream thought as he swept around the spires of Vos.
June - Glimmerwing: Golden sunlight flashed off pearlescent white wings, but Glimmerwing couldn’t enjoy the rush of wind over his plating.
July - Shall We Dance?: Cyclonus sighed. “Alright then, Tailgate, one dance…”
August - Ye Olde Frag Club: “I-” Ratchet stopped and gave Rung a more considering look where the small, orange mech sat calmly polishing his glasses.
September - Mortilus’ Championship: Megatron rose and stepped back.
October - Trial of Solomus: “Wisdom is not just knowledge,” Optimus Prime said from his podium.
November - Salt Flats: “Helmet?”
December - Stubborn: “Tell him the truth,” Starscream hissed after he shoved Ratchet down, then stepped back, nullrays aimed at the medic and a smirk on his face.
2016 Goals!
Write 200,000 words between fanfics and original stuff.
Get on Crackalackalicious again and post no less than 24 chapters this year.
Keep on top of the monthly goals! Meaning, that To Write Folder I have and will be cranking on hard this year.
Self-Publish original fic BY October because that’s my 40th birthday, and I REALLY want to hit this particular goal.
Work more on the fics for print stuff and maybe even have that ready to offer for preorders by the end of 2016.
Get the planned for KnotFormers done. – I’ve got my own poor little Blurr that’s been in a box waiting since July. LOL! I’ve got a Prowl for Masq’s bday, Sunny for Kid2’s bday (he read Foundlings and decided he NEEDED a Sunstreaker), Starscream for the Twin’s bday, Sideswipe for Son1 (who also read Foundlings and NEEDS a Sides), I have a Rung I need to make, a Wing, and I have threads enough to put together and Optimus and an IDW Perceptor that I might then offer up for adoption. I have enough thread to make a Megatron too, I think, and if I don’t have enough to make a Bob, I’m really close to it. LOL! No seriously, I have a plastic tub FULL of DMC embroidery thread skeins.
Knitting? Heheh! I really want to learn, but I also really want NK to teach me, but I need to like, ya know, visit her to do that and I have no idea when that’ll become a possibility. So… Tentative goal of learning to knit on my own if I can’t chill and learn from her. Plus, like, omg still another hobby when I’m not done doing the first, but screw it. I want to learn. ^_^
