Brightest Blessings and a Happy New Year to you all!
I can’t believe 2014 is already over and it’s time for another of these entries. I accomplished some stuff this year and it’s ending with me and mine in a better place than we were when it began, so all in all I’ll count this year as a win. ^_^
*cracks knuckles* Let’s hit this!
Year In Review
One year ago today I set myself some goals. I think I’ve actually forgotten what most of them are, so let’s see!
1. “Write more than 150,232 words. LOL” – GOAL!
I wrote and posted 169,490 words, managing to beat my goal by 19,258 words. Woohoo! \o/
Other writing stats for the years:
Total Posted (including previously written stuff from before 2014 started) = 293,944 words
Words Written, but Not Yet Posted in 2014 = 21,880 words (all of which is Crackalackalicious and Through the Rift 3 and 4)
2. “Finish that damn Sequel!” - GOAL! Dear Gods, but I did and Coming Home is done and posted.
3. “Write more Crackalackalicious!” - GOAL! Ok, it wasn’t but a few chapters, but they’re done, just need an edit, and heck, one of them is set to be posted at 12:01 Jan 1, 2015. ^_^
4. “I want to finish the revamping of Rift” - GOAL! And all credit to NKfloofiepoof for all her help with it. Through the Rift - Part One and Part Two are posted. Rift 3 is mostly written and NK gave GREAT feedback for it and 4 too, so they are sorted, just not quite post ready yet.
5. “Run more.” - I missed this one. I did run some, but it did not become the habit I had wanted to make it.
6. “Travelling to see my brother and his, and/or travelling to CO to see my HS Bff” - I wasn’t able to make either of those things happen, but thankfully we live in an age of the internet and I am able to keep touch with them very easily. Bro had a busy year, but is doing really well with his family. BFF is doing great too with her family. So while we all didn’t get to relax in the same room, it was a good year all around, and for that I’m grateful.
7. “There will be Girls' Vacay!” - GOAL! Hell, yeah! It was somewhere between a week and a half and two weeks of awesome food, sewing, drawing, and writing, the beaches, more food, and tons of fun. Not everyone that we wanted to be there was able to make it, but the future holds all hope!
8. More snorkeling and swimming time for the kids. - Ya know, it’s NEVER as much as I want it to be. LOL. We did go out more though, and while I’m not 100% they’re ready for the reef this summer, we’re still working toward that.
9. “Definitely want to get up and see my dad too.” - Sadly, no. But then my daddy got himself a girlfriend as has been having a blast with her! LOL. I can’t wait to meet her because any woman that could charge through the bitterness of his past failed relationships and end up with me hearing positive things about a woman in a relationship with him must be something. I know she’s getting him out of the house and more active, and at his age, that’s only a good thing.
10. “I, Masqueadrift, and LB82 have a HUGE project called 'Spectrum'…” - Not much has been done on this, but we still poke it here and there.
11. “I'd definitely like to continue to improve writing.” - Goal? I certainly hope I have, but I don’t know if I can judge it. I think I’ve learned more, and I feel pretty accomplished, so… Yes. Goal, I think, with plenty more to learn and improve upon. ^_^
12. Original fic! - Ehh… Goal-ish. I’ve done some writing, but nothing is even close to publishable yet in book form. Babysteps forward though, and I’m not giving up.
What else? Let’s see, commissions were AWESOME in 2014. Holiday preparations and the possibility that the Army was moving us pushed me into a bit of a hiatus early this Fall, but now that the holidays are just about over and the Army is shipping only the hubby off while me and the kids stay here, I plan to reopen for writing commissions Jan 5th. I’ll post about it then. Man is good and looking forward to his next mission despite it taking him from us. We’ve survived being apart before, so we’ll survive this one too. Kids are doing amazing. Older one is officially a ‘tween’/’preteen’ (pick your label), and I wish I’d have had HALF this kid’s confidence when I was 11. Sassy thing. Must be mine. Younger one’s heading for 10 this spring, and he’s still a sweet little bug. Nothing better than random hugs. Nitro the cat is the best cat ever. I love my kittenbutt. Oh! And I’ve started a project I’m calling KnotFormers. I plan to eventually take commissions for them, but I’m still in the pattern creation and testing phase. I’m really happy with how little Ratchet there is turning out though, so keep a weather eye out for future posts about them all.
Well, how about we get to the meme part of this? Here are the First Lines of the First Fic of Each Month:
January: Prisoner: “It had been a long war, and Iris had been trained to obey orders instantly.”
February: Once More: “Ratchet’s hands moved with precision.”
March: was a quiet month. (actually I think I was sewing a lot)
April: A Little Bump and Grind: ““Ok, Buster,” Thundercracker said, trying to shuffle the papers into some semblance of a neat stack.”
May: Adventures in Mutual Discovery: ““So what’s this slag I hear about you fighting with a wrench?””
June: Mail Order Mate: “Starscream stared at the screen, the jagged claws of doubt raking his mind raw.”
July: Questionnaire: ““You know, it might be faster to just let everyone fill out their answers on a datapad?” Optimus said.”
August: Sweet Release – Part Two: “//Slagging sonuva-//”
September: Elysium: “Drift had been on a lot of planets, but none quite like Elysium.”
October: Captain, My Captain: ““Aw, com’on!” Whirl whined.”
November: Waking Up: “He remembered it all, and that, more than anything else, made Megatron wish that the Allspark had destroyed him.”
December: Holiday Wishes: “Optimus tried not to fidget as Starscream continued to stare at the large red envelop he had given him.”
2015 Goals! - In no particular order:
Finish up and post both Through the Rift – Parts Three and Four
Write and post at least two chapters of Crackalackalicious each month.
Write and post at least 170,000 words.
Finalize the KnotFormer pattern and open commissions to those interested in buying one.
Give Spectrum more of a poke.
Write and self-publish that original short story idea I’ve had kicking about for a year now and is already outlined.
Copyedit fics into a book format as a fanbook with LB82’s art. We want prints for our bookshelves, and if others are interested in buying one too, we’re down with that. We aren’t looking for any sort of profit here, just the desire to be able to pull our own book off the shelf and touch our creations.
I’d still like to run more.
I’d like to swim more.
And I’d still like to get out on the road and visit family and friends that I haven’t been able to see in a couple of years at least now.
Finish my WIP crochet projects! LOL, there are currently five (not counting the KnotFormers).
Become a proficient knitter, which hinges on my finishing my crochet projects because I am not allowing myself to learn yet another hobby without doing what I’ve already promised with the other. ^_^
***
Whew! I’m going to be busy in 2015, but I was busy in 2014 and it was good. I’m never bored. LOL, and that’s not a complaint.
Before I go, I want to thank every last one of you for being there, for reading, for commenting, for creating your own works for me and others to enjoy, for your reblogs, your kudos, your faves and likes, for teaching me and helping me to continue to grow as a person, a writer, and even as a partner, friend, and mother. I’m blessed and I know it, and am so grateful for and to you all.
Brightest of Blessings and Best Wishes for the New Year. May your needs be few and met in abundance, may your wants and desires come to fruition in the most positive of ways, and may we all meet back here in yet another year 1000 times more happy and healthy.
